Research Interests:
My research interests lie in the areas of pathogenesis of bacterial diseases and emergence of antimicrobial resistance in bacteria. The long-term goal of the research program is to develop effective intervention strategies and improved diagnostic tools. Major projects are directed towards developing vaccines to control infections caused by extra-intestinal pathogenic Escherichia coli, Salmonella and Enterococci in humans and/or food-producing animals. Our research also focuses on molecular characterization of bacteria and developing diagnostic tools as new diseases emerge, and diagnostic, clinical and epidemiological investigation needs arise.
