Animal Identification - This program is designed for Ag professionals and Ag producers. Topics include the issues surrounding the emerging US Animal Identification System, market and economic consequences, and emergence of records, tracking, and GIS data and potential for disease and herd health programs.
Calf Sense - Offered by Dairy Alliance, Vet Extension cooperating. A one-day educational program designed for dairy managers, their employees, and advisors involved in newborn calf management.
Dairy Beef Quality Assurance Certification - Presented in conjunction with the PA Beef Council. Topics include: a 2 hour lecture to introduce marketing and food safety issues, a chute side demonstration to review proper injection techniques and animal handling, and a necropsy display to illustrate tissue reaction to various injection techniques and medications.
Mastitis Management - Topics include introductory level mastitis bacteriology, parlor management, mastitis prevention and treatment, and records analysis. Focus of the program is to incorporate a holistic farm approach to minimize clinical as well as subclinical disease, improve animal health and milk quality, and increase the economic bottom line for dairy producers.
Value-Added Market (Cull) Cow Program Dairy Beef Quality Assurance Certification - This program addresses the issues and techniques which can affect the quality, and economic return for market (non-fed or cull) cattle. Program is designed for livestock producers but elements can be modified to be applicable to audiences as varied as 4-H clubs and large animal veterinarians.

Animal Health and Housing - Offered in conjunction with the Dept. of Ag and Biological Engineering. Animal health and welfare is governed to a great extent by the environment in which animals are housed. Animal health and productivity can be improved by facilities design that promotes a good animal environment and health problems can frequently be reduced by trouble-shooting problems in existing facilities.

Barn Yard Nutrition; If it Eats and Moos, This Seminar is for YOU - Presented at the 36th annual conference of AABP 2003. Understanding the truths of protein, energy management, fiber and non-fiber carbohydrates of the ruminant diet.
DHIA Information Analysis Training for Veterinarians -This program is designed to help veterinarians efficiently interpret DHIA reports and provide critical analysis of herd performance and productivity.
Dry Cow Nutrition - Presented at the 34th Annual conf of AABP 2001. Overview of dry cow nutrition and management of dry cows. Understanding the feeding, managing and monitoring of the transition cow.
Hoof Care Workshop and Wet Lab - Lameness is one of the leading health, profitabilty, and animal welfare concerns on today's dairies. This wet lab will provide participants with an opportunity to practice maintenance and corrective hoof trimming, as well as other practical hoof care procedures. A locomotion scoring system will also be used to assess the level of lameness in a group of lactating dairy cattle.
Johne's Certification Programs - Johne's Certified Veterinarian Updates and Training Workshops are offered at no cost and will certify veterinarians so that they can enroll herds in the Pennsylvania Johne's Disease Herd Certification Process. The process for enrolling herds in the state JD program, and there are financial incentives available to producers and veterinarians. Other ag-professionals who want the latest information concerning Johne's Disease may attend.
On-Farm Practicum: Practical Assessment of Feeds and Feeding Systems - Presented at: Mid-Atlantic States Conference for Bovine Practitioners.
Practical Application of Ultrasound for the Use in Large Animal Practice and Ultrasound Use Wet Lab - This course provides veterinarians with information and hands-on experience to facilitate a decision as to the practicality of ultrasound use in their daily practice. Interspersed with formal lecture will be opportunities to use ultrasound equipment and visit with manufacturer's representatives.
