The first Dairy Cattle Welfare Symposium, hosted by the University of Guelph and its Campbell Centre for the Study of Animal Welfare, is pleased to invite you to this unique and important event for the dairy industry.
The Animal Diagnostic Laboratory (PADLS-PSU) and Veterinary Extension at the Pennsylvania State University invite you and the veterinarians in your practice to attend our annual Practitioner’s Meeting. A variety of topics will be presented, including Animal Diagnostic Laboratory and Pennsylvania Game Commission wildlife updates and regulatory information of importance provided by the Pennsylvania Department of Agriculture.
This workshop is for dairy producers, their employees, and interested dairy industry personnel. Herds studied by the Penn State Profitability Assessment Dairy Tool show reproductive performance is often the most common bottleneck to profitability. Reproductive performance does impact the bulk tank. Longer days open and extended calving intervals lead to fewer days of peak milk production.

Learn how to effectively manage lameness in a herd, exploring hoof health related topics such as: metabolic and infectious diseases, nutrition, heat stress, housing and cow comfort, hygiene and foot baths, plus hands-on hoof trimming demo.
