Toxicology continues to be one of the most rapidly growing fields requiring advanced scientific training. This interest reflects public awareness of potential or perceived threats to our health posed by chemicals synthesized for consumption or released into the environment. Molecular Toxicology is a scientific discipline that integrates many areas within life sciences. The basic premise of all study in Molecular Toxicology is: "What is the mechanism, on a molecular or cellular level, by which a given chemical or treatment is causing an adverse effect on the organism? The Integrative Biosciences Graduate Option in Cellular and Molecular Mechanisms of Toxicology is devoted to training graduate students to fill leadership roles in this growing new discipline.
