Veterinary and Biomedical Sciences Major
Pre-veterinary, pre-medical, and pre-professional studies.
Veterinary medicine is the application of medical, diagnostic, surgical, dental, and therapeutic principles to companion, domestic, exotic, wildlife, and production animals.
Veterinarians not only protect the health of animals but also health of humans. Veterinarians play a key role in public health by lending their expertise in zoonotic diseases, emerging diseases, environmental health, food safety and population health, and bioterrorism.
The Veterinary and Biomedical Sciences degree program provides a strong foundation in the biological and physical sciences. The mission of the Veterinary and Biomedical Sciences major is to prepare students for admission to veterinary school, graduate school, and/or biomedical research.
