Posted: October 18, 2012
Alyssa Patt, a third year student in Immunology and Infectious Disease, spent part of the summer of 2012 learning first-hand about infectious disease epidemiology during her Internship in the Pennsylvania Department of Health.
"I did a lot of food safety and quality control surveillance on meats and cheeses, I worked in media and the mailroom, I helped take care of the Botulinum testing mice and I worked on identifying unknown pathogens in various food and water samples," says Alyssa.
For this work, she is one of the 2012 recipients of the College of Agricultural Sciences Internship Award presented annually by the Alumni Association.
Alyssa is also the President of the Biomedical Sciences Club, and she found time last summer to study in China too. Congratulations Alyssa!
