Veterinary Forensic Pathology Volumes I and II, is a two volume set published by Springer International and is the first textbook published in the field of veterinary forensic pathology.  Edited by Dr. Jason Brooks (Penn State University), the text is co-authored by a team of 20 contributors with expertise in veterinary forensic pathology.  This richly illustrated two-volume book serves as a thorough reference for veterinary pathologists and clinical veterinarians interested in performing animal necropsies.  Topics include the role of the veterinary pathologist in animal crime investigations, evidence collection and documentation, forensic necropsy, estimation of time since death, age estimation, and how to write the necropsy report.  Chapters offer practical advice on the investigation of specific categories of injury including blunt and sharp traumatic injuries, firearm injuries, drowning, thermoelectrical and environmental injuries, poisoning, anesthesia-related deaths, animal fighting, neglect, sexual abuse, and others.  The book was released digitally in January 2018 and in print in February 2018.
