Who are we?
We are a committee of faculty, staff and graduate students working to promote and improve visibility of Diversity, Equity, Inclusion and Belonging values we uphold in our department. We strive to continually grow to recognize, value, and celebrate our diverse community.
Why a Book Club?
Our goal is to promote DEIB by facilitating productive discussions, educating ourselves, and finding actionable ways to improve DEIB aspects in the Department. Our hope is that it will be a special space to open our minds and hear others’ experiences, with the added value of a centered topic to explore as a group.
How often will the Book Club meet?
We will meet a total of 3 times per semester. An initial virtual meeting for introducing the book(30min) and the people participating in the club, a second virtual meeting around the middle of the semester to check in (1h), and a final in-person meeting at the end of the semester for a full book discussion(1-2h).
