Dr. Nissly's research centers on understanding factors that enhance or limit viral infections that target mucosal surfaces. This research aims to identify potential therapeutic targets, guide approaches to prophylaxis, and inform early warning systems that flag emerging concerning strains.
Dr. Nissly is a member of Dr. Suresh Kuchipudi's research team. She also manages the Regulatory Virology section of the Animal Diagnostic Laboratory, which focuses on testing for high-consequence pathogens including avian influenza virus.
