Promoting interdisciplinary research and education in the areas of immunology and infectious diseases.

Investigating the regulation of immunity and the mechanisms by which infectious agents circumvent normal immune responses may provide novel therapeutic targets for modulating and controlling immunity and inflammation.

The CMIID facilitates interactions among researchers—within and outside the Penn State community—who study immunology and infectious diseases, in order to promote collaborative work. Our members' areas of expertise include viral and bacterial diseases, autoimmunity and cancers.

The CMIID is committed to discovering mechanisms that contribute to disease, developing novel therapeutic strategies, and educating the next generation of scientists to carry on our mission.
