The serology laboratory offers a range of serological assays including agar gel immunodiffusion (AGID), enzyme linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA), virus neutralization (VN) and rapid plate agglutination (RPA) tests.
Serology testing at the Animal Diagnostic Laboratory
The mammalian serology section offers testing services for the serological diagnosis of a range of bacterial and viral disease of farm animals (cattle, horses, pigs, sheep, goats and deer). The mammalian serology section also offers special testing services for bull sales in Pennsylvania and export testing for cattle. The avian serology section offers assays for a variety of bacterial and viral disease of poultry species (most commonly chickens and turkeys) for the purposes of diagnosis, surveillance and monitoring vaccine responses. Included are tests that support flocks enrolled in the National Poultry Improvement Plan and flocks required to test for antibodies to avian influenza for movement to other states and into the live bird marketing system. Please contact the laboratory for further details.
